Michael Koenen Team Gleason Rebirth Shirt – The Other Half of the Statue

The 2026 Team Gleason Rebirth Shirt is connected to the moving reunion between Steve Gleason and former Atlanta Falcons punter Michael Koenen at the Rebirth statue outside Caesars Superdome, during the 20th anniversary of Domecoming before the Saints-Falcons game on October 5, 2026. Koenen was the player who punted the ball that Gleason blocked on September 25, 2006, a moment that helped spark a 23–3 win in the Saints’ first game back at the Superdome after Hurricane Katrina.

The Rebirth statue, built in 2012, depicts both men. Although Koenen played for the opposing team, he has always been happy to represent the other half of the statue because of what Gleason has done for the ALS community.
