Jon Sciambi Cubs Egregious Shirt – A Meme For Fans At Wrigley Field

The story of the Egregious Shirt meme began in August 2025, when umpire Emil Jimenez called strike three on a pitch clearly outside the zone, ending Pete Crow-Armstrong’s at-bat in a game against the Orioles. The Marquee Sports Network booth went silent for a beat, then Jim Deshaies — who’s sat next to Boog Sciambi for several seasons — uttered the words that Cubs Nation will never forget: egregious, that’s horrible. The clip went viral that same night, and the word “egregious” became the shared language of Cubs fans whenever an umpire wrecks a game.

The shirt features a design so minimal it’s almost a provocation — the word EGREGIOUS! printed in bold white on Cubs blue, below it a strike zone graphic with a backwards K symbol (the strikeout looking indicator in baseball) placed outside the zone.
